It was about 8 years ago that in our previous house Stephen thought it would be nice to have a couple of egg laying chickens running around the garden.  We came home with four and were so smitten with their quirky characters that the numbers grew and grew and in the end we had around 20 odd large fowl hens and 20 odd bantams!  Since moving to this house we have downsized our amount of chickens we keep but we do show our bantams.  We have Serama who are the smallest chickens in the world.  These chicken pose all the time and really show themselves off. They also have a most adorable nature and make fabulous pets.  We have acquired some true 100% Malay lines and are excited about our breeding plans for this year.

We also have bantam Poland Chickens.  These too have really comical and lovable natures and I just love their crest (pom poms).  We do breed our Seramas and have also acquired a White Crested black Poland boy and are now hatching our own Poland line.

I also took my judging exam for judging eggs at Poultry shows and past this and am now a qualified Egg Judge!

We have been very successful with our chickens.  Our serama have won Best Pullet and best hen at a lot of shows - the most notable was at The National.  Our Poland girls always do well and at the last two shows attended this year (2016) my chamois frizzle Poland girl has won Best soft feather light at both shows and ended up on Champ Row under two very reputable judges.  We were again very proud.
